Dec 17…
We made a treat basket to put by our front door. The sign translates to: To our amazing Delivery Drivers. We appreciate the work you do. Thank you for making our lives a little easier. Please take a snack for your travels. Merry Christmas!
Judging by how often we had to replenish it, the drivers seemed to like this idea.

Dec 16…
RumChata is a very nice alternative to Eggnog for a seasonal beverage. And you don’t need to add Rum!

Dec 2…
The weather is finally cool enough (25°C / 77°F) to start dining on our patio again.

Nov 20…
After the plumbers took everything apart and put it back together again – several times – now we have a slow leak at one of the couplings!

Nov 18… We had a problem with water (precious commodity!) overflowing from our tinaco.

Nov 11… Still playing Tour Guide with our guest. This is the beach at Todos Santos.

Nov 11…
We paused for lunch with our guest on the day trip to Todos Santos.
This is the Mole Chicken at Los Adobes de Todos Santos.

As Tour Guide for our guest we took a day trip to Todos Santos.

Nov 10… Another Tour Guide destination: Divorce Beach on the Pacific Side at Lands End, Cabo San Lucas…

Nov 8…
Playing Tour Guide for our visiting guest. Today touring around San Jose Del Cabo. This is the Interior courtyard of the town hall.

Nov 4…
Spectacular sunset tonight. All the neighbours were out watching and taking pictures!

Oct 31…
This is how trick-or-treating is done in Cabo… Decorations, and a bowl of candy for kids to come and pick for themselves.
(not our door… one of our neighbours)

Oct 22…
After the storm… Cool enough for Shari to enjoy her morning coffee on the patio.

Oct 21…
During Hurricane Norma, the weather app says there will be cooler temperatures with some cloud and wind…. However, wind @ 121km/h is enough to blow the trees down in our neighbourhood.

Oct 20…
Closing up the storm shutters. Getting ready for Hurricane Norma.

Oct 14…
Using binoculars to project the image of the partial solar eclipse.

Oct 1…
These were on sale at our local grocery store. Apparently they sold the rest of the alphabet, and just S & R were left.

Sept 30…
In case you’re wondering if it’s still hot this time
of year, the temperatures on our patio at 9:30am were 33.7°C / 92.7°F in the shade, and 44.8°C / 112.6°F in the direct sun.
Yup, still pretty toasty!

Sept 23…
Lorne, at the far left, renewing our Costco membership. When our Canadian membership expired we signed up for the Executive membership at Costco Mexico. It costs a little more up front, but you earn a percentage back with each purchase. For the last two years our earned rewards have more than covered the cost of renewal.

Sept 22…
It’s pumpkin-spice time of year!
Fresh-baked pumpkin loaf. We brought it into the air-conditioned office to cool, because it’s way too hot in the kitchen.

Sept 22…
Home-made fish tacos for lunch… air-fryer grilled cod, spiced vegetable blend, beans, lime crema, salsa verde, warm corn tortillas. Yum!

Sept 17…
Fun things come in big HEAVY packages!
Like new patio chairs!

Sept 16…
This Saturday mid-day snack turned into a meal! Bruschetta with garlic-infused olive oil, whipped cottage cheese spread, diced tomatoes, and balsamic glaze drizzle, with two kinds of cheese, kalamata olives, and some rosé prosecco.

Sept 10…
Spotted at our local grocery store…
“halloween christmas stuff”.

Sept 6… A few days after a big dump of rain, things start turning green…

Aug 28…
Relaxing, playing some Canasta!

Aug 28…
Shari’s birthday… home-made lemon layer-cake with blueberries, and a lemon frosting.
We bought a new pair of 6-inch cake pans so we could make it an appropriate size for two people to enjoy – without having to eat leftover cake every day for the next month.

Aug 26…
Shari’s (early) birthday dinner… Grilled picaña (or picanha), asparagus, and potatoes romanoff. So good!

Aug 25…
Preparing the picaña (or picanha) for tomorrow. It will dry-brine covered in sea salt overnight in the fridge to draw out water, concentrating the big beef flavour.

Aug 18…
Storm day! Even though we were just catching the edge of the storm spiral, we closed the metal storm shutters over our patio door, just to be safe.

Aug 17…
Heading out for some last-minute grocery shopping before the storm gets here. Lots of big ominous clouds rolling in.

Aug 16…
Prepping for Hurricane Hilary – making sure the Propane is topped-up. The guy on the roof throws down a rope to haul up the hose to connect to our rooftop tank.

Aug 3…
Mexi-Veggie Omelette with Onion, Bell Peppers, Tomato, Jalapeño, Corn, Black Beans, Cilantro, Cumin, Coriander, and Cheese.
(Crema and Salsa Verde added later)

July 30…
Growing up we (Lorne’s family) always had a vegetable garden, and we always grew a lot of tomatoes. We were always looking for ways to use up those tomatoes, and one of our favourites was Tomatoes on Toast. Still a favourite today.
Toast, Mayo, Sliced Tomatoes, sprinkle of Salt… Mmmm!

July 25…
Prepping for Storm Season… Removed all the furniture from our patio, gave it a good cleaning, and stacked it all up in the guest room.
(Sorry, no room for guests during Storm Season.)

July 21…
Heading out to Costco. Car dash says it’s 40°C (104°F) outside.

July 18…
We get a lot of things from Amazon. Some of them come in very large boxes! Kudos to the delivery guy who carries them up the stairs to the third floor for us.

July 16…
Coke’s latest “Limited Edition” flavour. This was much better than their “8-Bit” version. This one tastes like Coke + Rosemary.

July 16…
Shari ordered some coffee filters for her cold-brew setup. These things are cartoonishly large.

July 14…
A typical workday in the office.

July 10…
We put a frozen english muffin into a square container overnight in the fridge to defrost. In the morning it came out square.

July 2…
Hurricane Beatriz was heading toward us, but then fizzled out before getting anywhere near us. She did stir up a bunch of weather systems though, and we got our first major rain of the year.

June 28…
We made our own homemade Mango Freezies. So good! Can anyone say “Brain‑Freeze”??

May 31…
The Venice Canals of Los Angeles. Have known about them for a long time, but this is the first time we’ve actually seen them.

May 31…
Picked up some drinks from a McD’s drive-through. One of the straws must have got caught in the paper-wrapping machine, and it sealed the end shut.

May 28…
On our Alaska Air flight to Los Angeles they offer “cocktails”. You know, the good stuff, in a can.

Chicken-Nugget-Crust Pepperoni Pizza Bake. High-protein, low-carb. All the good parts of Pizza, without getting over-full on the bready crust.

Had a slow leak in the tire for a while. Got it fixed up at Llantera California. Removed a large screw from the tread. Patched-up, good as new!
